It’s been almost a year since we last connected. And what a year it’s been. I truly hope that everyone this reaches is doing well and staying safe.

Many of you have asked what’s going on with Mustaches for Kids this year. Something normal to do, something expected. Let this be your official notice M4K is on!

That said, this year will be different. First, there will be no in person events – instead they will be held via Zoom. Second, we are shortening the season this year – 3 weeks in 2020. Finally, no fundraising goals – we’re still raising money for CCMC, but we’re all under enough pressure right now to add one more objective to meet. I’m super excited to see all of you and to bring some joy to some kids this year, but the reality is that 2020 is a different year, and so we adapt. Here’s the lineup:

Clean Shave Day: Friday, November 13^th

Check Point: Friday, November 20^th  

Mustachio Bashio: Friday, December 4th

We are in our final week growing mustaches for kids! Together we’ve raised nearly $4,500 towards our $25,000 goal. Nice job so far! Keep the donations coming. A couple quick notes:

First, looking ahead to Friday, our 12^th annual Mustachio Bashio is all set for this Friday 12/13 at The Tavern Downtown starting at 8pm. Get the word out, all are welcome to join. Like last year we will be downstairs.

Second, for those of you who are new to the bash, below are the prizes we’re awarding at the event on Friday. We’ve changed a few things up this year, including some prizes open to non-growers! Check out the changes in bold.

1. Brawny Man – awarded to the winner of the foam contest (live competition at the bash)
2. Brawny Woman – awarded to the winner of the foam contest with a fake mustache (live competition at the bash)
3. Groucho Marx Award – awarded to the best mustache costume – anyone in costume (live competition at the bash)
4. Tom Selleck Award – awarded to the Sexiest Mustache (bash attendees will have to pay for you to win this one)
5. The Snidely Whiplash Award – awarded to the Creepiest Mustache (bash attendees will have to pay for you to win this one)
6. Rich Uncle Pennybags Award – awarded to the biggest fundraiser (based on total fundraising at the end of the bash)
7. Mark Twain Award – awarded to the overall winner

First of all, today is Giving Tuesday! Make a donation today or get someone else to make a donation to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center through Mustaches for Kids. Donations can be made through our website here. Help make this Giving Tuesday great for M4K!

Second, it is once again time for the M4K Hartford Stache Dash this Saturday! This year’s lineup is great and we hope that everyone can make for a night of drinks, laughs and raising money for a great charity. We will be collecting suggested donations of $10 both in advance and during the Dash. Advance donations can be made via this link. Throughout the night, we will also be selling long sleeve t-shirts, cozies, bottle openers and other M4K swag.

This year we will be doing M4K 50/50 Stache Dash Raffle.

Great turn out last week for Clean Shave Day! Thanks for all the early support.

I wanted to remind everyone that our first check-in of this growing season is this Friday night. Join us for Mustache Trivia at 6:00 at Hog River Brewing (address below). We’ll meet at 6:00, trivia will start at 7:00. I’m looking forward to seeing many week-one staches and offer some toasts of encouragement.

If you are growing and unable to attend in person that’s ok – just make sure to send me a photo of your progress. If you have donations, remember to bring those Friday as well. If you’re out to support that’s great too, there are plenty of pints to go around.

Many reasons to come out this week: mustaches, trivia, local beer, food trucks, friends, and more. All are welcome to join, with or without a mustache. Spread the word, hope to see you Friday!

For Game Night we’ve prepared a fun minute-to-win-it style competition for those that want to participate. If you don’t know what that is take a look below at some past games. It’s a ton of fun for everyone so don’t miss it. Otherwise come join us for a beer. Games will start at 7:00 with prizes to the winning team.

Announcing the 2019 Mustaches for Kids Growing Campaign!

2018 was a great fundraising year for M4K, with nearly 12 growers raising $19,000, bringing our lifetime contributions to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to nearly $140,000! We’re about to kick-off the 12^th Annual M4KHarford Growing Season (YEAH!), here are the essentials:

For those who are new to mustache growing, or have friends who are interested in mustache growing, or love reading about mustache growing, here’s the whole story:

If you find yourself asking questions like…

…then you know it’s time for your yearly dose of Mustaches for Kids. We are pleased to announce the 12^th Annual Mustaches for Kids Growing Campaign. Last year, you, our group of devoted mustachees, raised $19,000 for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center through 20 dedicated growers and support from countless mustache enthusiasts. In 2019 we have expectations of eclipsing our 2018 fundraising total through more growers, more mustaches, and more loyal supporters.

Consider this your official call-to-’stache, a rallying cry for those dormant whiskers and that sense of charity and righteousness within us all!

Many of you participated last year, and I’m sure your collective upper lips have been tingling with anticipation. For others who are new to this mustache growing thing, just check out a brief summary of Who We Are. You too can benefit Connecticut’s children through mustache greatness.

Growers: the impact we make and money we raise is directly proportionally to how many sweet, sexy mustaches are seen growing around Hartford. Register your upper lip today! Tell your friends, they’ll be jealous and want to join as well.

Enthusiasts: Remember, the Mustache is more in the heart than on the face. As a stache enthusiast, we need you to get out the word, support your fellow growers in their brave endeavor, and help raise/contribute money for the kids.
