Clean Shave Day 2011

This Friday, November 18th marks the official start to Hartford’s 4th Annual Mustaches for Kids Growing Campaign!

Once you’ve stopped jumping up and down and cheering out loud from the excitement, read on for a few last minute reminders and logistics. Remember that our fundraising goal for this year is $15,000 and the children of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center are counting on you to once again make this a successful growing season. That means lots of donations, lots of super-awesome mustaches, and lots of fun in the process. To celebrate this historic event, we are kicking off the month with Clean Shave Day today, details as follows:

What: Clean Shave Day

When: Friday, November 18th, 6:30

Where: The Tavern Downtown, 100 Allyn Street  Hartford

Website: http://www.thetaverndowntown.com/home.html

Growers: if you are attending Clean Shave Day, make sure you are clean shaven before arrival. This means, according to M4K bylaws, zero facial hair on Clean Shave Day. If you are unable to attend in person, you need to do 4 simple things: first, make sure you are registered (see below); second, shave; third, take a photograph of your shaven face and email it to me to post on the website; fourth, with that email, include a personal fundraising goal and either a picture or name of your mustache “role model” for the season. For all growers, start spreading the word today to remind your family, friends, and coworkers why you are growing a mustache for the next month (in four words: “It’s for the kids!”).

Enthusiasts: come out to Pigs Eye and do what you do best. There are millions of mustache follicles that need your support to start sprouting.

Not registered yet? That’s ok, simply register here, send me an email, or come Friday and sign up in person. Some helpful material to get you going can all be found on the m4khartford website, or through these links for the 2011 Growers KitOverviewPoster, and Mascot Guide.

See you all tonight. Good growing!

A $15K Year

In 2010 Mustaches for Kids surpassed the $10,000 annual growing milestone, cheers all around! That brings our lifetime contribution to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to over $20,000 in 3 growing seasons. Not bad for a few fellas with hair on their face.

So the bar is set for 2011: $15,000 over 4 weeks.

Our 2011 growing season will kick off on November 18th and continue until December 16th. Get your razors ready, clean shave day is only a few weeks away.

If you or someone you know and love has ever wondered what it’s like to grow a mustache – and ever followed-up that wonder with a, “could my mustache do something good for children who desperately need medical support?”… Well, this is the easiest, most bromantic, funny-yet-somehow-still-moving event you will ever be a part of. Join us.

Mustachio Bashio

We’re in the final stretch, at the 11th hour, on the 1 yard line, in the final countdown! In other words, we are very, very near the end of growing season.

This Friday, December 17th marks the end of the 2010 growing season, which according to tradition is accompanied by the end of the year Bash. This is a time for celebrating a marvelous month of mustache growth and donations to CCMC. Speaking of donations, we are now 40% towards our goal of $10,000 for the year. Which makes Friday even more critical since it is the last day to contribute towards Mustaches for Kids this year. Come out this Friday and celebrate your success and help us reach our goal for this growing season.

Where: City Steam Brewery Café, 942 Main Street, Hartford

When: Friday, December 17th, 9:00pm

Website: http://www.citysteambrewerycafe.com/

Growers: don’t forget to shave down to just a mustache on Friday. More importantly, this is the time to collect outstanding donations, cash in on all those promises, and hit up that coworker who’s been mocking you the past month to fork over some cash for the kids. Every $20 you can contribute gets us closer to our $10,000 goal. If you can’t attend in person this week make sure to email or text me a photo, thanks.

Enthusiasts: this will be the last time you get to see those sexy mustaches on most growers faces, hard to pass up this opportunity. Aside from this, you can also buy M4K shirts and buttons, win some prizes, and vote for your favorite mustaches. And there’s beer, don’t forget that. This is always a fun way to finish the growing season, so bring your friends, your camera, your wallet, and an empty stomach.

See you all Friday. Good growing!

Check Point #3

This Friday, December 10th marks the third check point of the growing season, and the last milestone prior to the Bash next week. By now, those glorious mustaches have earned you the respect of your peers, are snagging stares from admiring onlookers, and are protecting you from the cold. Most importantly, your mustaches are starting to bring in donations for CCMC. Towards our goal of $10,000 we are currently 20% of the way there having raised just over $2,000 since we started three weeks ago. Come out this Friday and celebrate your success and prepare for the final week of fundraising.

Where: The Tavern Downtown, 100 Allyn Street, Hartford

When: Friday, December 10th, 6:00pm

Website: http://www.thetaverndowntown.com

Growers: don’t forget to shave down to just a mustache on Friday. This would be a great time to send a note to your fan base reminding them to get their donations to you. If you have checks or cash that you have collected since last week please do bring those; we are only tracking money-in-hand, so once it is in my hand we can continue to show progress to our $10,000 goal. If you can’t attend in person this week make sure to email or text me a photo, thanks.

Enthusiasts: come drink a few, and bring your friends. There is nothing more amusing than standing around a crowded bar surrounded by 20-30 men with mustaches, you are guaranteed to grin from ear to ear. There’s no better way to end the week.

See you all Friday. Good growing!
