Everyone is welcome and it’s going to be a blast.  So send this note to anyone and everyone.

Growers, this is a good excuse to send a final fundraising email out.  Let people know there’s still time to give and that we’re aiming to beat our goal of $5,000.

Lastly, don’t forget to sport some sweet Stache-wear Friday night.  I’m working on mine now.

Gotta grow, see you Friday night!

Oh what fun it is to grow in a one horse open stache…

S - have your face except for that sweet ’stache of yours. Remember: per Mustache Rules, you have to clean everything up a minimum of one time per week.

T - ouch the mustaches. Come now, don’t be afraid.

A - nswer the call of duty and support your local children’s hospital: Connecticut Children’s Medical Center www.ccmc.org

C - ome to one of our two remaining events. We’d love to see you and show you our sweet ’staches.

H - ear us sing–a spontaneous and stirring rendition of "Silent Stache"  from New York’s Checkpoint #2 last year

E - xhale. We know it can be overwhelming to know that there are over 25 fine gentlemen growing mustaches for charity.

Okay, we just spent way too much time coming up with that bit of wordplay. Should have used a dictionary. Lesson learned.

Speaking of lessons, we’ve got a bunch of guys with Mustaches who would love to teach you a few things about charity, grooming, and total sweetness. And you only have two more chances to see them. And one of them happens to be Friday night:

 CHECKPOINT #3

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5th

6:00 PM

Wood-n-Tap in Hartford

99 Sisson Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106

Come on by for the usual mix of mustache talk, casual drinking, and head turning. What, you thought that a big group of guys with mustaches could sneak into a bar unnoticed?

Thanksgiving Traditions: Family, Turkey, Stuffing, Cranberries and Mustaches

Did you know that the Pilgrims grew mustaches for charity? Just after the Wampanoag Indians taught the Pilgrims to grow corn, William Branford asked Squanto to make a donation. It’s true, I read it in a history book.

To carry on this American tradition, make sure to remember Mustaches for Kids during your Thanksgiving holiday. Consider making a donation yourself on our website www.m4khartford.org  - donations benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Since most growers are busy this week spending time with their families, squandering the last of their vacation days (guilty), or stuffing a turkey, this week we will not meet. However, we’ve scheduled a get-together the Monday after Thanksgiving so you can show off your holiday growth. Growers: don’t forget that, per Mustache rules, you must shave your face except for your Mustache on Friday, November 28th.

Second Checkpoint:

When:  Monday, December 1st, 6:00 p.m.   Where:  Black Bear Saloon, 187 Allyn Street, Hartford, CT 06103 (860-524-8888) Web:  www.blackbearhartford.com Bar: bring your own 20oz mug and fill it up for $2 (domestic drafts); 2-for-1 wings in over 23 sauces

We wish you all a stachey, healthy Thanksgiving!

Shave-Off 2008

In the words of Europe: It’s the final countdown!

Like Christmas morning and a NASCAR race rolled into one — gentlemen, start your Mustaches — Today is Shaving Day ! All of our volunteer Growers must shave off any and all pre-existing facial hair. We must all begin our Mustache Odyssey, so everything below the top of the earlobe must go! Consult the official grower’s guide if you have any questions about what to do, but it will definitely involve some hot water and a razor.

What?!? You haven’t signed up yet? Don’t worry, it’s not too late! Click on the Join M4k tab on this page, then get yourself to a barber, post-haste! And then Friday join us at the Hooters in Manchester , to help us launch the 2008 Growing Season in style. Everyone is welcome — friends and Mustache enthusiasts, tonight is your chance to spot an early favorite and sponsor his Mustache!!

Grow well, we hope to see you all soon.

Shave Day:

When: Friday, November 14th, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Hooters of Manchester, 1481 Pleasant Valley Rd, Manchester
Web:  www.hooters.com

So You Want to Grow a Mustache…

Here’s a one-pager  which summarizes Mustaches for Kids. Great for posting in the workplace or leaving on your coworkers desk.

The growers kit  explains all you’ll need to know for the entire growing season. In here is everything you’ll need for the month, including the smash hits “Pledge Form”, “M4K One Pager" and "Sample Email".

This pledge form  will help you keep track of generous donations. Growers are encouraged to use this form to keep track of the pledges they raise.

Use this for motivation: you and your mustache are not alone . We all need role models, choose one to motivate you during this growing season.

Get your ‘Stache on 2008!!!

We’re less than two weeks away from the start of growing season, and I know each of you is ripe with anticipation. Check out the About M4k which summarizes what Mustaches for Kids is and how you can get involved. Go to the Rules page which explains in more detail everything you need to know about M4K, who we’re raising money for and why, how the fundraising works, what a John Water is, and much more. If you’re as excited as I am you’ll probably read the whole thing. Twice. With any luck this will answer most of your questions, and certainly get you excited about the month ahead. You can always direct additional questions to info@m4khartford.org .

Or better yet, you can come to our first event: an Information Session this Friday at McKinnon’s Irish Pub, details below.

Whether you have questions, already plan to grow or donate, or think a mustache just isn’t for you, anyone is welcome to come this Friday. Tell your friends! In fact, you should probably forward this to them right now (they’re probably looking for a reason to have fun for a good cause). Nobody who shows up is obligated to participate in Mustaches for Kids, so there’s no harm in stopping by. If you show up though, you might just have a good time. I hope to see you all there.

Information Session:

When: Friday, November 7th, 8:00 p.m.
Where: McKinnon’s Irish Pub, 114 Asylum St., Downtown Hartford, CT
Web:www.mckinnonsirishpub.com
Band: John Craigie
Bar: $2 Miller High Life, $2 shot special, $5 martini special, $3 Heineken and Amstel Light

Stachely,
Carbonetta
